Life itself

How can people imagine that we are conscious beings in a universe that is material, static and unconscious? How could matter give birth to so much life? Is not the universe itself a great ‘being’, not as a noun, but a verb? Being is constantly happening, it is an organic, living phenomenon. You are that happening. Life itself.

We feel we are victimized when life hits us with tragedy, with hardships, with heart-breaks. But, oh, every act is designed especially to wake you up from the dream that you are an individual living a life into the ultimate truth that you are Life in a human body. As Alan Watts said it “You are the universe experiencing itself”.

Tell me you always knew. You always felt you were more than just a body, you always felt the whole cosmos was behind you. Because it is.

  1. One of my favorite quotes by Buckminster Fuller—“I live on earth at present, but I don’t know what I am. I know I am not a thing—a noun. I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process—an integral function of the universe.

    1. yes, that’s pretty poetic, “integral function”. it’s so easy to feel we are a body, when we drag it along everywhere, but the reality is a change of perspective so dramatic that it literally changes the structure of our brain.
